I’ll give you a hint. If you do these things, your English will improve. If you do not do them… guess what… your English will not improve. If you are not gong to do these things, stop reading now.
Daily, consistent practice is key to improving at anything. It just happens you you crazy…. awesome people have chosen to improve your language skills.
Choose one thing and find out ALL the vocabulary related to it. For example, you might like playing guitar, so you could choose the guitar and find out all the vocabulary that makes up the guitar. Maybe you like surfing, coffee, tables or books; maybe you like coffee table books (Do they exist?). Find out.
This is kind of linked to the previous tip. Take those words that you have learnt in tip #1 and write one perfect sentence for each new word. Take your time and write one sentence per word. Make it perfect.
Pay a attention to your teacher if you have one… if you have a good one. If you need a good one, send us a message! Study a grammar point. Whatever you did in class is fine. Now try to use that grammar point as much as possible. Write one perfect sentence using the grammar AND the vocabulary. So far, we have mixed tips #1, #2 an d#3.
Read the blog of Seth Godin. He is a very smart marketer, thinker, speaker and author. I am developing a man-crush on him. You WILL learn something. Look for the grammar point(s) you have learnt. Notice them and underline them, write them down, tattoo them onto your body. Do whatever it takes….. OK maybe tattooing them onto your body is a little excessive.
Create some questions that you will ask people. Know some possible answers. Go to a shopping centre. Choose a shop to start at. Go in and wait for a staff member to approach you and as you something. If they don’t come to you, go to them. Ask questions, make your excuses and leave. Go to the next shop and repeat. Do this over and over again. At first you’ll feel strange, but by the third or fourth shop, you’ll feel fe. This tip can become very expensive very quickly if you buy lots of things. I don’t accept responsibility for your credit card bill However, I will accept gifts if you want to send them my way.
